Week Two of the Season of Dreams has been great. I am finally feeling well enough to get back into my craft room and put some time into my pages. Short bursts of time, but I am inspired and motivated, so let’s see what I produced.
I’ve been holding on to this magazine page for quite some time. It came from a Frankie Magazine (I think) and I knew I wanted to use it in my art journal as soon as I saw it, but it’s taken over a year for the right page to come up. I thought the girls contemplative look suited this quote down to the ground and really says what day dreaming looks like and feels like to me. The water colour adds a dreamy feeling.
This page came about purely from watching too much Once Upon A Time while I have been recovering. Lying in bed watching Netflix has been my saviour. I thought I would try my portrait technique using acrylics instead of water colours to see how it worked. And it was pretty much the same, but took way longer because acrylics don’t spread quite as quickly and easily as water colours. I really love how it turned out.
This page turned out nothing like I had imagined when I started working on it – but I actually love it. I knew I wanted hidden journaling because my secret dreams are a bit personal, and I knew I wanted gold paint somehow. The magazine cut-out was a pure fluke, but as it turns out really works well with the content and the colours. Totally abstract but I love it.
I used flaps to hide my journaling, but I also deliberately made the text illegible. I know what it says, but no-one else needs to know right now. And I still have more space to write under one of the flaps so I will keep adding to it.
What are your secret dreams, silly or otherwise? Are yours a bit personal like mine or are you brave enough to share them?
