Welcome back to my arty little blog. As usual, I am sharing pages from my Get Messy Art Journal, following a set of prompts.
The first prompt was around childhood memories, and while this page didn’t follow the prompt exactly, it launched me into some memories about my favourite toy as a child and I had to attempt a portrait of sorts. I admit I am not very good at painting still life – but I am happy with my attempt all the same. After all, its my Floppy Doll on a page.
This next page wasn’t following any prompts, its a ‘just because’ page – because I love water colour, and I love flowers. I took an intermediate water colour class on Creative Bug and went crazy painting a bouquet of flowers. They aren’t perfect, but I’ll keep practicing because that technique truly makes me happy.
My last layout for the week was again based on a prompt about music and how it makes me feel. This past week I have been obsessively listening to a new song – 1955 by the Hilltop Hoods. They are an Aussie Hip Hop group and I love all of their songs, but this one just grabbed me from the first time I heard it. It just makes me feel happy, and is so breezy and funky it reminds me of the beach. I even attempted a water colour landscape of a beach scene. Happy days!
What is making you happy this week? Have you listened to any music that just grabbed you and made you play it on repeat?
