I thought it might be a nice idea to share my process for creating a set of pages for those who might be interested, or even keen to have go at art journalling. This page was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest, but I have tried to make it my own with quotes and by adding ephemera.
Step One. Start by cutting the pages to the shape that you want.
Step 2. Cover each page with gesso to provide support for your pages and to stop the paint bleeding through. I also like the effect the water colour has when painted on gesso.
Step 3. Water colour your design onto the individual pages, leaving them to dry well in between so you don’t get any smudges.
Step 4. Add detail to the pages using coordinating water colours.
Step 5. Add cute little ephemera pieces – I used KaiserCraft Hello Sunshine die-cut shapes.
Step 6. Personalise your pages with a quote or some journalling.
Lets take our hearts for a walk in the woods and listen to the magic whispers of the trees.
I hope you enjoyed my little walk through process. You can see my finished product (plus other pages on my Get Messy | Season of Magic | Week 4 post.
If you decide to make something like this and share it on Instagram I would love it if you tag me @drawingboardau or even message me, I love to see your work. xx
