I’ve been very absent from the blogging world for quite a few months. I moved house, took ages to unpack my craft area, lost my mojo, lost all energy to create, got busy with life and generally just took a break. But this last couple of weekends, I have finally found the creativity bursting to get out.
I have to admit that the Season of Adventure didn’t really inspire me a great deal in the beginning because I don’t see myself as a very adventurous type of person. But as the prompts went on the ideas started coming. The first series of prompts was fantastic. The Get Messy Game was just what I needed to get my creative juices running.
Here is my interpretation of the game.
I created a few other pages for the season as well, mixing up the prompts a little as I kind of left most of them until the last weekend to do. I also used two different journals which in hindsight may have been a mistake as the whole season isn’t together – never mind.
This is the title page of a new moleskin cahier journal.
I had a lot of trouble with the bucket list prompt but was determined to give it a go. Just lately I have found that I have WAAYYY too much trouble looking into the future. Life is so hectic that I can barely plan (or even think) two days in advance, let alone make bold plans for the future. That said – I wrote a bucket list, and made a collage as the background.
I went shopping at a second hand shop recently with the sole purpose of finding magazines, comics, old books and that sort of thing to use as backgrounds for my journals. I found a Phantom magazine and decided it was perfect for the next spread. I had to add a touch of water colour for interest.
Abstract backgrounds are my jam – and I really loved Caylee’s tutorial on scraping the paint onto the page – how simple, but effective. I love the result, and especially love how quickly the paint dries. I also used Nina Christensen’s (aka Nina is A Paper Nerd) freebie on this layout. Love that font.
And last but not least ‘Up’. Couldn’t resist using the abstract background again, and just had to use balloons in there. This spread came together so quickly and I really love the colours. I used a pearly white paint in there which you can’t really see in the photo, but it is actually pearly and looks really lovely in real life.
Well that’s it folks. I hope you have enjoyed my take on the Season of Adventure. Until next time ….
