Get Messy | Joy

It’s the end of November and that means that Christmas is nearly upon us. But it also means that it is time to share my response to the Get Messy Art Journal prompt. This months prompt was a good one – but aren’t they all?

Journaling challenge: Pick one word that describes you right now. Just one word.

Art challenge: Play with the word you picked. Use letter stickers, cut out your word from magazines and create a collage, write your word a hundred times on a piece of paper and use it as a background, use paint to write your word, … The main focus should be on your word.

My word is JOY.

I had two attempts at the prompt. My first one involved stamps and was very similar to another page I made recently and while I liked it I thought I would try something else as well. So here we go.

My word spoke to me because it is the holiday season and nothing fills me with joy more than spending time with my family and seeing the JOY on their faces.

I used a stamp from the 2013 December Daily kit and also one from Kellie Stamps. It was a lot of fun creating the pattern and I am slowly getting more confident with stamping.

My second page uses brush script. I’ve progressed with the Life|Scripted course and am now working with letters. This was my first full word.

I also decided to make a collage page, just for something different. It’s totally unrelated to the prompt but I thought I would share it just the same.

  1. Love your pages!! I really like them both (or all three of them 😉 ). The first one is quite similar to my approach with stamping the word all over the page. The second one is just awesome! I actually wanted to create sth. with brush script, but I just can’t do it.. So instead I will admire all the brush script pages out there 😉

  2. Love the ‘Joy Joy Joy’ page! Reminds me that I want to try brush script again. I also took Kal Barteski’s course so I want to go practice more. I especially like the word ‘joy’ that is on the second line, second from the left. Also, great job with the splatters.
