Welcome again to my art journaling weekly post. This week I have been working in a hand made journal that has a variety of paper types and sizes in it. This has been challenging, but also really fun. I’ve actually been working in this journal for a few weeks, and while I am not quite finished it, I thought I would share the pages so far.
The cover of the journal is made using a sheet of canvas that I water coloured on, and added some packing tape transfers and script.
The first page is one I made while travelling recently, this song pops into my head on a regular basis and there was no way it wasn’t going to make an appearance in the Season of Music. I used neocolours to get the water colour background and a magazine clipping.
Next up was my attempt at using an album colour as inspiration from Nina’s tutorial. I have to say, I am not loving these pages – they were fine until I added the Gotye script – I think that ruined it, well in my eyes it did anyway.
And then there were these simple pages. The first I just wrote lyrics on a magazine page. The second is an envelope page (from Cait’s tutorial last season – I’d been dying to try this out) with water colour. No fuss, but I like the result.
The middle page is a scrap from an altered book, and I used Karen’s prompt from a week or so ago about representing day and night on opposing pages. This isn’t really about music at all, but the spread was fun to make. I used texture paste for the smudges so the pages look and feel really cool.
And then came the abstract artist in me. I scraped paint with a credit card and went slightly overboard, but the colours are fun. And I like that they match the pages underneath.
More abstract art using the other half of the envelope page – funny story here – I went a bit crazy with my heat tool and kind of melted the plastic window so this page has warped and gone a bit crazy. Oh well you live and learn right. The right hand page is using Katie’s freebie. Love that moon!
And the last page in the book is an ode to Tori Amos, and Vanessa – thanks for daring me to burn my pages lovely.
And that’s another weekly wrap up finished. There are quite a few pages here, I hope I haven’t bored you.
