The Season of Happy started with a bang. So many new art journalers have joined the community and are creating such amazing, refreshing pages. The prompts have been great and have inspired a lot of people.
This week I used a few new techniques and I can already tell they will be used again, and again, and again.
I am so happy that I scored some liquid acrylic inks at a bargain price, they are gorgeous when dripped onto pages and blown with a straw. Such cool effects. And lets talk about that gold – it is so sparkly in real life.
I also made my own stencils by following Vanessa’s tutorial. It might seem like a lot of work, but the end result is totally worth it. I used a Staz-On ink pad and make-up applicator to apply the stencil. Then coloured the page with gelatos to make it pop. And it wouldn’t be a journal page of mine if I didn’t script a quote on it.
Next up is a page I actually made for another prompt group (Colour Me Positive). The theme was kindness, and when I found this quote it screamed happiness as well so I am including it in my Get Messy pages for the week as well.
My last page for the week was just a spur of the moment page, not following any prompts, but using colours and shapes that make me happy. Water colour circles using Opera Rose and Orange Hue – I love that colour combination so much – almost as much as I love water colours – and flowers.
Get Messy Art Journal is an art journaling program/community. We are a group of like-minded art journalers who have come together under this art form to learn, share, practice our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire.
