While Get Messy has been on hiatus, I have kept up my art journaling. I haven’t been posting every Thursday though as I felt I needed a little break from the routine. I will certainly be getting back into that routine in a couple of weeks when the first season for 2016 starts. Until then, I thought I would share a few things I have been making.
I’ve been playing along with the Colour Me Positive prompt group this month, and this is Week 4’s response – the quote was ‘Believe in Yourself and magic will happen’. Very appropriate as my word for 2015 was Believe and the last season for art journaling was Magic.
I’m also playing along with Journal52 prompts at the moment. Week 4 was to do with the moon and there was a tutorial that you could attempt. It was painting a face – I am so intimidated by faces so thought lets try this. Here is the result.
I bought Juliette Crane’s Painting from the Heart course for myself for Christmas. It was a great class – I’m just not much better at faces than before I started. Never mind. Practice makes perfect and all that.
I also became very interested in monoprinting so started experimenting with a fake gelli plate. I used a silicon baking mat which worked pretty well on paper, not so well when I attempted printing directly on to my journal though. It inspired me enough to buy a proper one and it was definitely worth it. Printing is so much fun. This page was made with the baking mat.
These last two pages were actually made quite some time ago, but I just hadn’t posted them anywhere. Why now you ask? Well, I filled up the journal so decided to photograph them all and share them, just because.
Only one more week until Get Messy starts for 2016. I can’t wait. As you know, I am part of the Creative Team for this year, which is overwhelming, but also very exciting for me. As a way of kickstarting the year, I have one 12 month membership to give away. Jump over to my Instagram account to find out how to win! The winner will be drawn tomorrow night (24 January Australian time).
