Get Messy | Season of Magic | Week 6

Merry Christmas everyone. It is Christmas Eve and I am about to sign off from blogland for the year, but before I do, here is my last post for the Get Messy Art Journal, Season of Magic.

First of all are a couple of festive pages based on the prompts for the week. There are some sad thoughts underneath all that paint. Thoughts I wanted to get down about my feelings about this holiday season, but decided to replace them with all things happy instead. I really loved scraping on paint with an old gift card, it created some lovely patterns. And covering up the personal journalling was very therapeutic. Like writing that angry letter and ripping it up.

Next is the quote included on the prompts post this week. It really spoke to me so I couldn’t not make a page using it.

I also created a couple of pages that weren’t really based on any prompts, but are based on artworks I have seen on pinterest lately. Pinterest is one of my main sources of inspiration, and I like to start off with an idea and see how my page develops. Sometimes it is almost a copy, others it totally becomes my own work.

I’ve played with a black gesso background again here, gee that stuff is addictive. My only complaint is that my white pen has smudged – bummer – even though I let it dry for days. Never mind.

And of course, my best friends water colour and a scripted quote had to make an appearance. This page is based on something I saw on Facebook. I found the quote very moving as I think about my friends who may have lost loved ones this year and have a special angel watching over them.

So people, have a lovely festive season and I will catch you all again in 2016.

  1. Wishing you & your family a very merry Christmas Tanyalee. Some really great pages, you have such a clear uncluttered style that I just love, here’s to a great 2016.

  2. Your pages are as lovely as always! I’m also a huge fan of pinterest, I find so much on there that I’m inspired by and end up doing my own version in my art journal.

    Merry Christmas!

  3. These are beautiful. I can’t wait to try the covering up of thoughts next week after all of the hullabaloo is done. Happy holidays!
