Get Messy | Season of Magic | Week 5

I went crazy with abstract style backgrounds this week. I love playing with acrylics – now that I have found some that don’t stick the pages together when I’m finished working on them. I’m convinced it was the paint brand I was using that caused that issue. I’d love to hear if anyone has any other theories on that though.

This first layout was based on a prompt about family traditions – and being Christmas, it had to be Santa photos. Santa photos were always a tradition in my family, but my kids however did not like Santa at all. I have one Santa photo and that is it.

And next a script based page with lots of journalling.

I also made a couple of layouts just because – no prompts, just ad libbing. My favourite mediums, magazine pages, tissue paper and paint. 15 minutes tops.

Last but not least I played with stamps and gelatos, and my fingers are still blue – oops. Maybe I should blend with a brush instead of my fingers. All in the name of Get Messy though.

  1. These are all wonderful! I’m looking forward to making some layouts of Christmas traditions. I also have had problems with acrylic paints sticking the pages together. What did you end up using?

    1. I am using Jo Sonja’s paints now and they don’t seem to stick together. But I had a thought that maybe its the paper too – when I use a recycled cotton journal they stick, but moleskins don’t.

  2. Amazing as always Tlee! LOVE those backgrounds! I love smearing acrylic around too 🙂 I’ve found that acrylic with less gloss seems to stick WAY less. The more gloss in the paint, the more it wants to stick to other pages. My cheap craft acrylics don’t give me any trouble, although they aren’t my favourite in terms of usability.

Anyways, I loved all your pages especially the first one! And that wreath is also so lovely. 🙂
