Get Messy | Season of Magic | Week 4

Over half way through the Season of Magic already. Two weeks left, and that means two weeks until Christmas. Probably time I started getting a bit more festive.

This week I have made a few different pages, not strictly following the Get Messy Art Journal prompts, but there is an element of them in there. And the most important thing is that they portray Magic to me.

This first page is a minimalist take using abstract painting techniques and a quote (seems to be my go-to formula).

Next up is a take on a collage style by Mama Finch a new art journalling idol of mine. The strips of paper make really cool effects. Her collages are much more detailed than mine, but I love this effect. This page also expresses how I am feeling right now.

Another take on the strip collage. Using butterflies, because butterflies are magical after all.

And last but not least, a woodland scene using layered pages. I saw something similar on Pinterest quite a while ago and felt compelled to make something like it. Season of Magic | Week 4

I might even post a step-by-step run through of how I made this spread at a later date.

I hope your Christmas preparations are going well, see you all next week. xx

  1. Love your layered woodland pages….very inventive! The prompts were tricky this week weren’t they, I think your butterfly works really well with the collages strips.
So much going on at the moment….it’s like a treadmill that just gets faster…haha! Happy Christmas xx

    1. Thanks Gill. Yeah it took a bit of thinking to come up with something. The silly season is sure in full swing. Hope you have a good one. Xx

  2. I love the simplicity of your abstract piece. I think I might use a similar technique as a go to page when I get stuck. I love just a bit of paint and a quote. Beautiful! And that woodland collage page- oh my! I’m off to try something like that. Thanks for sharing.
