The Season of Magic has been really interesting for me. Initially I wasn’t convinced I would enjoy it, especially following on from Words which I absolutely embraced and loved so much. But this week I have been so inspired and had so many ideas to get down on my pages. I have moved a bit away from my usual style I think.
This first spread started with a magazine page from a Vogue magazine. It was very dark and mysterious which conjured up images of dark magic and mystery for me.
I have been a Harry Potter fan from the very beginning so there was no way quotes from the books were not going to make an appearance at some stage. And I am sure there will be more as the season progresses.
Is there anything more magical than fairies? My daughter loved to dress up in fairy costumes and work her magic – and why not – they are beautiful, mysterious, happy, magical creatures. This page features a combination of gesso, water colours, texture paste and Gouache – all of my favourite things.
My next page represents the dark and light sides of magic. Snow White, the classic fairy tale representing good and evil.
I hope you have enjoyed my pages this week as much as I enjoyed making them. Here’s to another week of getting messy.
