Welcome to the first Get Messy Art Journal Blog Hop. In case you have been hiding under a rock for the last few months, I joined an art journalling group to set free my creativity.
Get Messy is an art journaling program that is designed to inspire you, teach new art techniques and help build a community around this art form. It’s a private blog that shares prompts, tutorials and inspiration each week. There are also weekly link ups to help push members to consistently create and to showcase their amazing work. Get Messy is for beginners as well as art journaling extraordinaires! For more information check out this site.
I started the Get Messy Season of Love strong, actively creating beautiful pages about love. Then something happened. A little thing called LIFE! The kids went back to school after summer holidays. My husband started a new job and a university course. Our eldest son started university for the first time. I had to apply for the job I have been acting in for 2 years. We had a terrible incident with our pet rabbits getting taken by a dog. And then we bought a brand new baby kitten. So, needless to say, art journalling kind of got pushed aside. This makes me very sad.
I have tried to keep up to date with my daily calendar and diary art journaling, but even they have suffered and I usually end up doing a bulk creation on Sunday before I post the pages to Instagram (if I am lucky!). You can check these journal entries out here if you are interested.
Things are slowly getting back into a routine though, so I am hopeful that by the time the next ‘season’ of Get Messy prompts starts I will be motivated and ready to get back to my craft desk.
In the meantime, here is a recap of what I did manage to create in the last six weeks. Firstly I managed to write two blog posts.
I also created a few other pages but never got around to writing a post about them. I guess now is as good a time as any. Check out the gallery of all of the pages I created this season.
I hope I have inspired you to Get Messy – it is loads of fun and the community that has developed is really lovely to be part of.
